About Harry Morley

Teacher · Neighbor · Advocate · Candidate for Congress, NC- 10

Hi,

I’m Harry Morley — a lifelong advocate for working families, a public school teacher, and now a candidate for Congress here in North Carolina’s 10th District.

I was raised in Fayetteville, the son of a dedicated Army Lieutenant Colonel who didn’t come from West Point, but rose through the ranks by showing up, doing the work, and never backing down. My mom was the steady heart of our family — quiet, strong, and full of grace. They both rest now at Arlington National Cemetery, and not a day goes by that I don’t think of the values they lived by: sacrifice, humility, and a deep commitment to service. Those are the same values that guide me today — in the classroom, in our community, and in this campaign.

Why I'm Running

From One Neighbor to Another

You might be wondering:
“Why vote for a teacher? A regular guy who’s not part of the political machine?”

And I get that. I’ve asked myself the same thing. But here’s the truth: I’ve spent my entire life solving real problems, fighting for students and families, and navigating systems that weren’t built to work for everyday people.

I’m running for Congress in North Carolina’s 10th District because our communities are being left behind. I’ve seen what happens when schools go underfunded, when healthcare is out of reach, and when working people are treated like an afterthought. I’ve lived it.

I’m not running for power. I’m not running for status. I’m running to bring honesty, service, and people-first solutions to Washington — and to put our district, our values, and our working families at the center of the conversation.

You Deserve More Than Political Rhetoric

You Deserve Results

I’ve worked as an Exceptional Children’s teacher for over 30 years. That means more than lesson plans and classroom work — it means dealing with thick layers of state and federal law, managing IEPs, negotiating services, and making the system work for kids who are often forgotten.

In that time, I’ve developed a deep understanding of how government policy really plays out on the ground — and how to navigate red tape to get results. I know how to turn legislation into real impact, because I’ve been doing that for decades in North Carolina schools.

I’m also a proud union member and education advocate who’s fought for fair funding, safer schools, and the rights of workers — not with slogans, but by building coalitions, reading the fine print, and pushing through until something gets done.

And as someone who grew up with dyslexia, I know what it feels like to be underestimated. That experience made me work harder — and gave me a deep belief in the unseen potential in all of us. That’s what drives me every day.

This is Personal

I know what it’s like to juggle bills and jobs. I know what it’s like to ask, “Can we afford this doctor visit?” or “Should I pick up extra hours just to make rent?” These aren’t distant policy debates to me — they’re real life. And they’re happening to people across our district every day.

I’ve worked shoulder to shoulder with women my whole life — in schools, in community work, and in my home. I know their leadership, and I see how policies affect them in very real ways. I will always stand up for women’s rights, for access to reproductive healthcare, and for the freedom to make personal decisions without fear or punishment.

And like many families in North Carolina, mine includes people from all backgrounds — Black, Brown, LGBTQ+, immigrant, rural, working class. These aren’t “interest groups” to me. These are my loved ones, friends, coworkers, and neighbors. I’ve seen how hard they work and how often they’re overlooked. I will fight to make sure every person in our district is treated with respect and fairness — because that’s what community means.

What I'm Fighting for in Congress

Why It Matters

🏫 Public Education

I’ve watched public schools get drained by private voucher schemes, with my opponent cheering it on. We must stop using taxpayer money to prop up private systems while public classrooms crumble.

  • I will advocate for restoring full funding to public schools
  • I will work to reverse the dismantling of the Department of Education
  • And I will fight to ensure every child — rural or urban — has access to quality education

🏥 Healthcare & Reproductive Freedom

Your healthcare should never depend on your ZIP code or bank account. And no woman should fear legal consequences for seeking medical care from her own doctor.

  • I’ll lead efforts to codify Roe v. Wade to protect women and providers
  • I’m here to help make sure that we protect rural hospitals by stopping Medicaid cuts
  • I won’t stop until we fully fund the NIH and FDA to keep America leading in medical research

💼 Jobs & Working Families

I come from a paycheck-to-paycheck world. I’ve lived the tradeoffs and sacrifices.

  • I will fight for living wages and workers’ rights
  • Support local businesses, not just big corporations
  • And I’m driven by a promise to Invest in broadband, childcare, and infrastructure

🌱 Immigration & Farm Labor

North Carolina’s farms run on the backs of immigrant workers — and they deserve a path to stability and dignity.

  • I support pathways to lawful residency and citizenship
  • Will work tirelessly to protect DACA and modernize border security
  • and advocate to keep our food systems strong by respecting the labor that feeds us

🌍 Environment & Future Generations

We owe it to our kids and grandkids to be stewards of the land.
I will:

  • Stand up for clean air, clean water, and sustainable growth
  • Restore green energy funding gutted by recent legislation
  • And ensure rural areas benefit from climate jobs and infrastructure

⚠️ The Hidden Crisis They Don’t Want You to Notice

The so-called “One Big Beautiful Bill” was passed with support from my opponent — and it’s full of cuts to healthcare, school funding, clean energy, and food assistance.

But here’s the trick: most of it doesn’t go into effect until after the 2026 midterm elections. That was done on purpose. They’re hoping you won’t notice the damage until it’s too late to change course.

📌 Key Facts:

  • Medicaid Cuts: Over 11 million could lose coverage (washingtonpost.com)
  • Rural Hospital Closures: Up to 300 at risk nationwide (apnews.com)
  • SNAP Cuts: $230 billion cut = less money in local grocery stores, less food on families’ tables (commonwealthfund.org)
  • Clean Energy Rollbacks: Long-term economic harm for rural communities (time.com)

I won’t let this slide under the radar. I’ll fight like hell to stop it.

I’m Not Running to Camp Out in Congress

Let me be clear: I don’t want a career in Washington. I’m not looking to be there until I drop.

I’m running to do the job, make a difference, and then step aside to make room for others with real-world experience and fresh ideas. Congress should be a place where teachers, nurses, farmers, and everyday folks have a seat at the table — not just career politicians.

It’s Time for Real Representation

You don’t have to guess where I stand — I’ll tell you. I’ll show up. I’ll listen. I’ll work hard. And I’ll remember exactly who I’m there to serve: you.

I’m not a celebrity. I’m not a millionaire. I’m not a political insider.

I’m a teacher. A neighbor. A problem-solver. A fighter.
And I’m ready to bring everything I’ve got to the floor of Congress.

Let’s do this — together.
